Pork the other White Meat, Not for all points South?
So, you know I’ve been barely subsisting as far as posting goes.
Lo Siento. Truly. But after a hard day at the pool, then the beach, you know how it goes. But I am keeping up on email, and this little ditty from my friend Meghan made me almost go ca ca:
And as for the food carts…..or “Las Carretas” in the pinche Espanol…..the only thing I WILL NOT eat en Mexico, es El Puerco (the pig). No, it is true! As much as I love PORK, it is something I have learned not to eat south of the border. No details needed, you’ll just have to trust me on this one. Hopefully, you are free from Montezuma’s Revenge, et al. But, you ARE Sicilian, and therefore fairly impervious to lots of shit.
So Meghan, patron chef of the big pink beast, please comment on this post and share with the class. Details, si, please. I know that you know that I know what you’re talking about. (But bacon is mui goood….and tacos puerco are mucho goood…)
Besides, I am immune to most gastro-distress (unless I exceed my 13 animal/day limit). My Sicilian stomach strong like toro. But my tapeworm Paolo would be mad if I didn’t give a shout out to him, too. Heeeeey!

Well allow me to retort….. “solitaria”, or taenia solium (a parasitic tapeworm) can be a concern South of the Border. It has been known to cause neurocysticercosis, or adult-onset seizures. Undercooked pork is a big culprit, so are unsanitary food preparation practices, yadda yadda yadda. My advice…..if it looks dodgy, smells dodgy, or the person cooking it is dodgy, don’t fucking eat it.
