Je Suis En Paris

Bon jour, miscreants!

We’re in Paris right now, and just came off a much needed techno-detox. We.re staying in the 10th arrondissement–home of the Place de la Republique, Canal St. Martin, and the train stations. It’s a fantastic and diverse neighborhood. Belleville has awesome Chinese take-out, Indian food, Turkish sweet shops, and North African cuisine. Oh, and all that French stuff, too.

We’ve got a sweet little garden apartment off the street, tres charmante. And the best part? Our entire stretch of rue Faubourg du Temple smells like lamb, from all the hallal butchers sur le rue. I love the smell of mutton in the morning.

Yes, mes amis, leave the 6th and the 7th for your parents and German tourists. Cool kids go east, to the 10th and 11th (more on the Bastille later). It’s almost a different Paris. Like the difference between staying in Brooklyn or the Bowery instead of the upper East side in NYC.

The one thing that’s driving me nuts, zero bubbles other than Champagne on restaraunt menus. And NO RM Champagne, only Moet, Veuve and that merdre. Unbelievable. I will investigate this further. But right now, I’m getting in touch with Parsons to find a Project Runway viewing party. What? Is that wierd?

Ooey gooey bonneness from Pierre Herme
