I’ve noticed something lately … blogs used as sources in major news media.
   Ha ha! Jon Stewart did a little story a few weeks back, something about CNN crediting a number of blogs as their sources on a story. His usual Agog face and chuckling ensued. Ever since, I’ve seen all sorts of media site blog(s) as source material.
   Which makes sense. For example, I’m not an insider by any stretch, but when it comes to wine, I get a few nuggets of news before the general public every now and then. If others with a blog can say the same thing, all of a sudden the blogging universe becomes a goldrush of information. Along with a tidal wave of misinformation, of course. But the nuggets make it worth it …
   That means, as long as people continue to blog, history has a chance to be written by more than just the winners. Dissenting opinions cannot be fully crushed. Dead is the oral tradition, up comes the trackback. Do I exaggerate? In what fucking country are you living? The corpocracy almost knocked out the viability of small biz e-commerce and shat on the entire original purpose of the world wide web. But as long as there is typepad.com and blogger.com…
   Stop me if I’m getting too Jimmy Stewart for you. But there’s really only about 3 or 4 old white men that control the majority of news and info-tainment you injest. But they can’t fuck with me when I’m on my ibook after a few beers. Blogging, even pod casting, may just be that pea in the corporate matress, the Charlton Heston, the binary might that allows us to fight the powers that be.
   One random, self-absorbed, snide comment at a time.
