Cheerwine, Say It Isn’t So!
I need your help. At left is one of my
guiltiest pleasures. The Cheerwine
cherry soda I love so much has a
unique, super bing-y, super bright,
super sweet flavor. It iz zee best
cherry soda. But it has come to my
attention, that even though it clearly
states "Made with real SUGAR" on the
freaking bottle, that this product is
made with my kryptonite(well, one of
them)–high fructose corn syrup. Does
anyone know the meaning this? I can
handle it. I just want to know the truth.
Routas Grenache/Syrah or Rose – I’m so happy this producer is available in Seattle again. These are two of my summer staples–sentimental favorites. The Rose is always a foil to pricier Tavel or Bandol. Very pale coral/pink, tangy red berry flavors, and a crisp zap of acidity. Screw jammy. The grenache/syrah is juicy and light, perfect at basement temp, and, well, tastes like a big ole berry bong.
Ooh. Mario Batali just cooked lamb chops, coated them in a roughly chopped ramp pesto, wrapped them in very thin pizza dough….and deep fried ‘em. I gotta go.

Hey there!
I’m a resident of Salisbury, NC, birthplace of Cheerwine, and I share your love of that nectar… I can give you the lowdown on the corn syrup thing. Cheerwine in cans and PET bottles is made with corn syrup, while Cheerwine in glass bottles is made with delicious, non-chemically processed cane sugar. Hope this helps.
