Show The Vij Indian Food Love
Sweet holy mother Mary of Christ on an elephant.
Seperate sources all confirm, Vij’s, the lady-led Indian restaurant extraordinaire in Vancouver, was/is looking for a Seattle branch.
What can YOU do to help persuade them to branch out here?
Sorry, I will do anything to see more delicious Indian food in this ethnically challenged town.
Yes, that’s what I said. Oh, sure, run to your email program. Be like that. But don’t you dare pontificate to me about all the Pho mediocrity and claim culinary diversity. I won’t respond. Because I swear, sometimes it feels like sesame seeds on a cracker up here in the Jet City.
Oh yeah? Pop quiz: It’s 9:00 p.m. You live downtown. You want Chinese take out, or Italian, or Indian, or West African, or a hoagie, or hell, a decent pizza…delivered.
What do you do?
WHAT. DO. YOU. DO?
Mmmm hmm, that’s what I thought.

I was just up at Vij’s a couple of weeks ago and I asked Vikram Vij about this….he said that although he thought the business could work in Seattle, and he came down and looked at some great spaces there, he didn’t think he would be able to find enough Indian cooks. So that was the biggest hurdle…..doesn’t look like it’s going to happen anytime soon, unfortunately!!!

“sesame seeds on a cracker”
That is the best saying I’ve ever heard for white on white. Damn you are funny, for a white girl.

I know, it’s devastating! I was prepared to drive up to Seattle on a weekly basis…..

Sure wish I knew some kick-ass Punjabi girl cooks for a Seattle outpost of Vij’s…..all would be right in the world!
