Palacios Remondo La Vendimia El Guapo Poco Dulce Bribon No Costoso Tinto Rioja el III

This label kicks ass. Bodegas Palacios Remondo has been one of the Spanish anchors on my wine lists forever. They swing modern where it helps, while maintaining the tradition of Rioja in character. All of their red wines are made from estate fruit, and they are a classy operation.
So it pains me, that their once plain and now brilliant label on their entry level Rioja will be the last. Rumor is, they won’t be making La Vendimia anymore. The next level up, “La Montesa,” is an excellent wine. But I will miss this go-to red that I have loved and sold over the years. Dice que no es verdad.
2005 Palacios Remondo La Vendimia Rioja
imported by Polaner Selections ($11-13)
Bright and juicy, red and sweet-tart cherry flavors, I love the smack-your-ass fresh feeling this wine delivers. All with a loud and clear attitude towards spicy meat dishes. This stops short of the Australian jam pot, while having a little bit more fruit and alotta more spice than a young Chianti. Buy it while you can.
Adios, little tinto.
