Mead: Nectar of the Nerds


I adore mead–making it, smelling it, sipping it… It is something so heady and complex created out of only a few simple ingredients. Once you’ve had great mead, mediocre white wine just seems like a complete waste of time.

    As does mediocre mead.

    Nice list you have at Seattle Weekly, but to experience great mead you probably have to hang out with home meadmakers.

    I’m not sure why this is, but it is.

    I would agree with your advice to seek sweet mead first. But there is a winemaker called Long Trout Winery (in Eastern PA) who makes a divine dry mead - flowers in a glass, baby!
