Limoncello & Happy B-Day To The Master

You simply must copy my recipe for limoncello in this issue of the Seattle Weekly. If you start now, your first batch will be ready for the start of summer. And if you live in Seattle and jones for more posts or food-n-wine stuff, you can find me on Voracious, the Weekly’s most excellent food blog.

Anyway, Michael Broadbent, the coolest old fart in wine, turned 80 this week. And I just wanted to say to all the other wine critics…writer gives raspberry. Yeah, I know I come off as not giving a shit most of the time, but when I was teaching myself about wine, Broadbent was my guy. The best, the most thoughtful, and the most right because he writes for the people buying and drinking the stuff, not the wine wonks. He’s forgotten more about wine than some turds in the business can ever hope to know–including me.

    Hi, Maggie,
My Sicilian friends at Sorrentino won’t use vodka. Nothing but Everclear will do. Not that you can buy it in WA without a costly permit, but liquor stores in Oregon will sell you two jugs at a time for about $35/gallon.

How can I get a credit card using my tax ID instead of my personal social security number? My business is set up as a L.L.C. and has an excellant credit score from Equifax. I refinance my house and don’t want another open credit card account on my credit report. Is
