Hot Toddies, Drunk Daily
So what if I am one of those people who drinks every day? Millions of Italians can’t be wrong. I can’t imagine a bath without Lillet, the Miss Piggy at Smarty Pants without Strongbow, or the occasional after dinner Borsci and cookies. What Americans have to let go of is the idea that drinking means drunk.
I’ve sold the stuff I was going to talk to you about this week. Sorry. I do have an article in the Seattle Weekly today about what to drink when you’re sick.
**no, the cheeky title wasn’t me, never a Van Halen fan was I.
My hot toddy recipe is the best, I must say. Uses bourbon it does, cures what ails you it will. And the best part–no fancy shmancy ingredients required.
I had breakfast with Dave Pickerel, master distiller of Maker’s Mark, about a week ago. What a sweet and charming guy. I’ve always loved Maker’s, some of my bestest personal drink recipes require it. I use it to get people off the white and onto the brown. It’s a very versatile spirit, and you know how I feel about bourbon. Anyway, Maker’s is doing some amazing things in Kentucky, including a process that will allow them to cut down their energy costs. More on that later…promise.
