The World Can’t Wait: Youngins’ Prove Not So Apathetic

I don’t write about wine exclusively because, well… When you get together to drink wine with friends, do you just talk about wine? Some people do I’m sure. We’ll call them lame-os. Wine’s a social beverage, facilitating the discussion of all sorts of topics. Wine is only one of my interests and it sure as hell isn’t the most important thing in my life or this world. Far from it.

Does that answer your criticism, Jillian Chapman of Baltimore, Maryland?
This post’s for you!
(insert ME throwin YOU a set a devil horns right now!)

world cant wait seattle

Yesterday marked the first national walk-out organized by The World Can’t Wait, an organization propelled by student involvement, dedicated to driving out the Bush regime. It was truly moving to watch groups of kids, with their teachers, skipping school to collectively stick it to “The Man.” Nice to see the Millenials recovering some of the motivation and awareness that our Baby Boomer parents sold out in the 80’s.

eye-a-tollah-bushRise and shine. We are the minority. To these guys in power, we are serfs. We are all those people. As in, let those people eat cake. Or, in the words of Barbara Bush commenting on the destitute hurricane survivors, “things are really working out well for these people.”

Check out THESE PICS of how well things worked out for those people who were in Katrina’s path, taken by members of NIN who were granted special access to the 9th ward.

lap repealOn a lighter note: As usual, protests and marches bring out the fringe causes. Here’s a Seattle do-gooder concerned about the state of our strip clubs.

For those of you outside the Northwest, all our strip clubs are manditorily well-lit (think DMV) places where lap dances are prohibited, you can’t drink alcohol, and dollar bills go in communal tip jars, not G-strings.

Philistines!
Can we have no indecency, sir?
None?

It’s good to know we progressive minded Northwesterners are willing to champion the first ammendment in any and all of its manifestations.
