…and 60 minutes is too long.

Does anyone watch current TV? You know, the pod network with user contributed content partially funded by Al Gore? I turn to the channel (366 on DirecTV) and press record on TiVo…then fast forward and watch what I want. It’s like 60 minutes for the under 30 set.

It’s not perfect. It still has kinks to work out. Sometimes there are too many repeats. But you cannot not admire the network for saying “fuck you” to the system.

Critics said it would never work because young people don’t care. No, we care. We just don’t care about the Jurassic formats you try to force feed us. We don’t read newspapers. We read bloglines. We don’t watch CNN. We stream. Nightly news “anchor void?” Uh, I’m sorry what? I was listening to the Al Franken RSS feed in iTunes. Oh, www.current.tv has a new episode of Super News! coming up in 4 minutes. Sweet.

I had to drink this magnum of Nebbiolo goodness because it was a leaker. I refuse to let a wine go Gone Johnson on me. So one 5 lb chicken and some roasted purple potatoes later, this wine was perfect–light bodied and vibrant. Plush and tangy like dried strawberries. Smells soft and intense all at once: animal, vegetable, and mineral. I love these wines because they come off barely tamed. Like plucking a beautiful village senorita and sticking her in a silk evening gown. That’s Nebbiolo at it’s best. And remember, this grape is a fickle minx that won’t grow anywhere but Piedmont. You don’t have to drop a fortune, but except no pretenders.
