Pro-Chocolate, Pro-Choice

Sometimes, two things you love come together in an altogether glorious, yet unexpected way. Pickles and the deep fryer, Johnny Cash and Nine Inch Nails, pretzels and ice cream (bless you Ben & Jerry), and Champagne and potato chips all come to mind.

Next Wednesday night (March 8th) at the Ellis Pavillon at Safeco field (that thing next to Home Plate), NARAL Pro Choice Washington will hold their 15th annual Chocolate for Choice event. The event runs from 6:00 to 8:00pm and tickets (through donations) are available starting at the $35 level. You can order your ticket online right HERE. Restaurants, chefs, and choco-nutties from around the city will offer their big, brown, beautiful wares up for sampling and judging, by a panel of experts and you.

Wow you mean I can stick it Bush while enjoying delicous creamy chocolate? Oh happy, happy day! This event is nothing short of pure genius. I’ll be there, gorging, interviewing, and sporting my “Help us Barack Obama, you’re our only hope” t-shirt. And I’ll have my favorites next week, recipes and all.

Seriously, on a darker note… You watch the news, right? You read? You’ve heard of the Supreme Court and the new Freshmen on the bench? Unless we all take a more active stance against this administration, the liberties we take for granted will start disappearing, one by one.

And if that means I have to go stuff my pie hole with piece after piece of bittersweet ganache…then dammit, I will.
